Our Story
E4HDI started operations in September 2021. It was borne out of concern for the double burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases plaguing the Nigerian society amidst a fragile health system, gross inequities, and evidence that the prevalent diseases are due mainly to environmental and social factors, which can be prevented or effectively managed by appropriate and timely interventions involving sectors other than health.
Environmental and social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. Evidence is clear that these conditions and factors are far more important than specific disease agents in the health status/outcomes of individuals and groups.
Addressing environmental and social determinants of health through multi-sectoral approach is critical for a healthy population and the attainment of Universal Health Coverage.

To combat the double burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases, which are closely linked to environmental and social factors.
Vision
A healthy living and work environment in Nigeria, where quality preventive and curative health services are equitably accessible to all segments of society.
