Dr. Ezeigwe is a public health physician and global health enthusiast, with a passion for improving population health through policy, health system strengthening and advocacy. She has clinical, program management and policy development experience cumulatively spanning over 30 years in the private and public sectors, which she deployed to champion innovative ways to address environmental and other social determinants of health in the Nigerian Civil Service before she retired in March 2021.

Dr. Ezeigwe is a Fellow of the Medical College of Public Health (FMCPH) and holds the MBBS degree from the University of Nigeria College of Medicine; dual MPH from University of Lagos, and Rutgers University School of Public Health, New Jersey, USA; as well as Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental & Occupational Health from the latter. As a career civil servant Dr. Ezeigwe led the development of policies and programmes in the health and environment sectors of the Nigerian government for many years.  Her leadership dexterity, excellent team building and programme implementation skills enabled her to achieve many wins in her career. As the National Coordinator of the National Malaria Elimination Programme (2012-2016), Dr. Ezeigwe supervised the successful implementation of the Global Fund Malaria Grant and the World Bank IDA credit facility for Roll Back Malaria Initiatives in Nigeria, which led to the reduction of national malaria prevalence from 42% to 27% within the period. During her tenure as the National Coordinator, Non-Communicable Diseases (2016-2021), she galvanized relevant sectors and championed the first National Multi-sectoral Action Plan for Non-Communicable Diseases with a robust coordination mechanism in 2019, which earned an award from the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force (UNIATF) for NCD in 2020.

Dr. Ezeigwe’s penchant for innovative solutions to public health issues inspired her to co-found the Environment for Health Development Initiative (E4HDI), a Non-Governmental Organization promoting healthy lifestyle and access to quality health services. She has coauthored several articles in peer-reviewed journals and loves to spend quality time with her family whenever possible.
