Who we are
E4HDI (Environment for Health Development Initiative) is a non-profit organization focused on addressing disparities in environmental and social determinants of health. We promote healthy living and work environments, and facilitate access of vulnerable population to quality health services. We accomplish these through strategic partnerships, advocacy, and community engagement.

Our Story
E4HDI started operations in September 2021. It was borne out of concern for the double burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases in Nigeria amidst a fragile health system and gross inequities. Abundant evidence show that prevalent diseases are traceable to environmental and social factors and can be prevented or effectively managed by appropriate and timely interventions involving sectors other than health.
Environmental and social determinants of health are the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. Evidence is clear that these conditions and factors are far more important than specific disease agents in the health status/outcomes of individuals and groups.
Addressing environmental and social determinants of health through multi-sectoral approach is critical for a healthy population and the attainment of Universal Health Coverage.
